- What is an AGENTS.md file?
- AGENTS.md is a plain Markdown file you place at the root of a repository to give AI coding agents the context they need: how to build and test the project, the code style to follow, and any conventions for commits and security. It is a simple, open format with no required fields.
- Where does AGENTS.md go, and can I have more than one?
- The main file goes at the repository root. You can also add nested AGENTS.md files in subdirectories, and the closest one to the code being edited takes precedence. That lets a monorepo give per-package guidance on top of a shared root file.
- Is my input sent anywhere?
- No. The generator runs entirely in your browser. The form values are turned into Markdown locally, and the Copy and Download buttons act on that local text. There is no network request and no server storage.
